The role of a Counselling Psychologist

The role of a Counselling Psychologist is to help people improve their emotion regulation skills, manage anxiety and depression and improve their self-esteem. Furthermore, the role focuses on the psychoeducation of social skills and life skills for adolescents. Moreover, the Counselling Psychologist works on a group-level to assist adolescents with social communication issues, and for helping adolescents with conduct disorder to improve their pro-social skills. The role includes the psychoeducation of parenting techniques to couples with children at the age of adolescence. The approaches mostly used are cognitive behaviour therapy and systemic-family therapy.
