Miss Marina Theofanous is a licensed clinical psychologist at the Resilient Lives centre. She holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Cyprus and an MSc in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nicosia. Her practicum was carried out at different sites, including The Centre for Research and Counseling Services (ΚΕSY), and the Students’ Counseling Services of the University of Nicosia, Agia Skepi where she worked with adults dealing with addictions, and the Psychiatric Hospital of Athalassa.
Miss Marina focuses on the psychotherapy of children, adolescents and adults with emotional and behavioral difficulties, working with psychological trauma, anxiety, depression, and addictions, among others. She is also interested in working with people who experience challenges adapting to life-transitioning events, and focuses on the promotion of skills and resilience to help them cope with everyday challenges.
As part of her training, she has worked with individualized therapeutic plans based on the clients’ needs using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic therapy, and Solution-focussed Therapy.
Her interests involve anxiety and mood disorders, while she is especially interested in parenting skills to promote resilience. In therapy, she focuses on the relationship and the communication between child and parents, as well as the strengths and skills of each child and their family, so they can be utilized and enhanced.
