Our special department’s goal is the early detection, diagnosis and intervention regarding individuals with emotional trauma. Special emphasis is given in detecting children, adolescents and adults at risk to develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms and to diagnose those who already have PTSD. This enables preventative and therapeutic interventions to take place.

Another goal is the assessment of children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing grief. Our aim is to prevent and intervene in emotional difficulties related to loss and grief, which are often experienced as traumatic and if not properly treated they may lead to complicated grief symptoms.

Interventions are offered by our multisystemic team. Specifically, our department offers psychotherapy, occupational-therapy and art-therapy services to people in order to promote their resilience and emotional well-being following experiences of traumatic stress, loss and grief. Intervention plans are individualised and tailored to each person’s needs.

As part of Healing Lives, applications will soon be accepted to participate in Group Psychotherapy groups with the aim of supporting individuals who experience loss and grief following cancer diagnosis and treatment.
